The Galvaply roofing system is designed for slopes as low as 1/4:12 on new construction or retrofits. Galvalume steel panels provide solar reflectance of .75 and emissivity of .80 over a steel framing system with metal flashing and stainless steel drain system and seam fasteners. The company claims the system contains 60% total recycled material and will last for over 40 years. (The company does not delineate how much is post-consumer recycled content, or how it is divided up by system components.) Galvaply is installed with no PAH-releasing tar products or offgassing glues.

GreenFiber offers seven varieties of cellulose insulation, all of them containing 85% recycled paper fiber (55% post-consumer and 30% pre-consumer). The various products are designed for specific applications, including spray, blow-in, and loose-fill insulation for attics, new-construction walls, and wall retrofits. Four are low-dust formulas and three are treated only with borate.

The Rainscreen Clip system includes hidden fasteners that create a gap behind wood cladding to allow ventilation, as is typical for a rainscreen system. The clips are painted marine-grade aluminum, and screwed in place into pre-drilled, rot-resistant furring boards. Manufacturer Wood Haven offers a variety of species of lumber in various colors and widths, and also offers matching trim and corner boards. FSC-certified wood is available on request.

Kirei's Pacific Coastal line of paneling consists of redwood from post-industrial manufacturing scrap and blue pine from beetle-killed trees. In addition to slatwalls and tabletop slabs, the wood is available in 1/4" (1-ply) 1x8 panels and 3/4" (3-ply) 4x8 panels. The company recommends the line for applications including walls, flooring, cabinetry, and furniture. All Kirei Pacific Coastal products use NAUF resin and are CARB II certified.

CAFboard is a compressed-fiber panel manufactured by Stramit from wheat straw. The company markets the boards for SIPs, door cores, interior sheathing, acoustical panels, and many other applications. CAFboard is processed under high heat and pressure, which convert lignin already present in the straw into a natural binder—no binder is added, and testing shows zero VOC emissions. The boards have a STC ratings of 32 (for thinner boards) and 45 (for thicker boards); and a one- or two-hour fire rating (depending on thickness) based on ASTM E119/UL263. The boards contain no added flame retardants. CAFboard is available in densities from 15.6 to 40.5 pounds per cubic foot, and Stramit USA claims that the R-value of these panels ranges from R-2.32 to R-3.03. However, the company couldn't provide a lab report backing those claims, and we think they are exaggerated—see our full review for more discussion.

Stramit also claims high resistance to mold and mildew without added chemicals, low moisture absorption, natural termite resistance, and a negative carbon footprint. CAFboard panels range in thickness from 1.000" to 3.125" and are available in two standard widths—31.50" and 42.24". The company also incorporates CAFboard into two other Stramit products: the CAFsteel panelized building system and the CAFquiet interior partition system, which features an STC rating of 50.

Diamond-Furr lath attachment is a system of preformed steel brackets that allow metal lath for three-coat stucco finishes to be attached to an exterior wall with reduced need for individual fasteners. According to the manufacturer, Brand X Metals, the system reduces fastener penetrations by over 60%, thus reducing holes in the underlying building paper or weather-resistive barrier that could allow water infiltration and compromise the air barrier system. The system includes a weep screed and sheet metal flashing at key termination points at the top, bottom, and corners of walls, as well as around windows and doors. The steel includes 30% recycled content.

RedBuilt offers certified engineered wood products, including FSC-certified Red-I I-joists, RedLam LVL, and Open-Web trusses. The company uses phenol formaldehyde, resorcinol formaldehyde, and polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (pMDI) resins in the manufacturing process. With some products, special orders may be required.

Sustainable Northwest Wood offers FSC-certified trim, decking, and lumber sourced from the Pacific Northwest. The trim, including base molding and interior door and window trim, is milled from Pacific Albus, a cottonwood/poplar hybrid from northern Oregon. Available in 1x4 and 1x6 dimensions in 10' and 12' lengths, the trim is pre-primed with zero-VOC primer. Sustainable Northwest Wood also offers decking made of Western Red Cedar from Oregon and Washington, available in 8' to 16' lengths, and Douglas Fir lumber in 2x4 to 6x6 dimensions in 8' to 20' lengths.

Restoration Juniper Decking is made from untreated juniper wood harvested in grassland restoration projects in Oregon's high desert. The kiln-dried, 2"x6"x8' decking is naturally more rot-resistant than cedar or redwood, offering an alternative to pressure-treated wood. Human suppression of the region's wildfire cycle has allowed juniper to crowd out other native species, depleting the area's groundwater; ranchers have previously cut and burned juniper trees, but Sustainable Northwest is working to create a new market for the wood.

Logix Integrated Ceiling System uses USG’s acoustic ceiling tiles and is designed to incorporate GE Lighting’s Lumination LED Linear Recessed Luminaires; luminaires from a-light, amerlux, and Zumtobel; air diffusers from Carnes; and sprinkler systems from SprinkFLEX. Used in offices, retail, and other commercial settings, the Logix system fits 4"- or 6"-wide by 4'- or 5'-long LED fixtures and can look like a single narrow light spanning the expanse of a room, providing design options beyond standard recessed troffers.

Open Joist Triforce is a open-web, parallel-chord truss with solid-wood diagonal struts. It is most commonly used as for joists, but can also be used as rafters to achieve superinsulated roofs. The solid-wood 2x2 diagonal struts are attached with finger-jointed, glued grooves, potentially increasing durability when contrasted with OSB or metal plates that could degrade or corrode over time. Each Open Joist Triforce joist includes a 34-1/8" OSB panel at one end that allows the length to be easily modified, thus allowing more economical, standard-dimension manufacturing. FSC certification is available with Open Joist Triforce products.

DeepRoot Green Infrastructure's impermeable geomembranes protect landscaping, hardscapes, and foundations against damage from underground water while also providing some protection against invasive species and roots. (For greater protection against roots, the company also makes dedicated root barrier products). DeepRoot’s geomembranes are made from a minimum 75% post-consumer recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and are available in 300-foot rolls, in three thicknesses, and widths from 18" to 40".

Clearline manufactures C-Port rooftop support systems for pipes, ducts, conduit, HVAC components, and walkways. C-Ports, made from 100% post-consumer recycled rubber, are UV-resistant, dampen vibration, will not float, and support up to 1,000 lbs/ft2.

Suberra, distributed by ECO Supply Center, is a high-density cork surface material that can be used for residential or commercial work surfaces or countertops. Made from pre-consumer cork granules and 0.8% polyurethane binder, Suberra can withstand temperatures of up to 350°F and, because it is homogenous, can be sanded down or repaired if damaged. It is available in 1-¼"-thick, 25-½"-wide, 36-½"-long slabs, but the edges typically require trimming in order to have a 25" x 36" finished dimension. Suberra typically requires additional support when used as a countertop or similar surface, but the slabs can be glued together to form clean seams. Suberra is also available in 6-1/4"-thick slabs that can be for use in furniture, sculpture, and other applications.

TorZo manufactures several surface materials made from wheat, sorghum, hemp, or FSC-certified MDF panels. Acrylic resins are infused into the panels, adding hardness and durability as well as a unique look. Duram is a wheat straw panel made from agricultural waste products; Hemp is made from recycled hemp fiber; and Parda and Indure are made from FSC-certified no-added formaldehyde MDF. Indure looks similar to concrete and has a hardness of 7,700 lbs (maple is 1,800 lbs), as measured by the Janka Ball test. The products are available in different dimensions and a variety of colors.
