Chemical that mimics natural hormones, such as estrogen, and may interfere with reproductive development or alter behavior in offspring. Among common chemicals believed to be endocrine disrupters are phthalate plasticizers used in PVC plastic and bisphenol-A, which is used in the manufacture of epoxies and polycarbonate plastic.
